Word[s] of the Week: 5th Week!

So, as I've not given you words for a good long while, here's THREE to make your day, AND, as an extra bonus, I'm going to let YOU look them up!

[read: too lazy, too brain dead, too much in the middle of the problem of allegorical personification of personality traits in Guillaume de Lorris' Romance of the Rose to get up out of my seat and rummage around in this book-filled building to find a dictionary. Don't worry, it sounds much easier than it really is.]

Terpsichorean

Haruspicate

Chthonic

Enjoy! And do let me know, because I'd love to find out what they really mean!!! Maybe someday ... *can someone hand me that dictionary please*

  2. Ha ha NO clue whatsoever! But I found the first one: terpsichorean, of dancing. So, I don't know how you would use that ... ? I'm feeling so terpsichorean tonight, she said, as she twirled through the kitchen.

How terpsichorean, she thought to herself, as she eyed the fancy dresses in the window.

The terpsichorean music wafted through the hallway, mingling with the smell of burnt mashed potatoes.

Do you know the horror of the smell of burnt mashed potatoes???

  3. "Of dancing", huh? Interesting.... Never would have guessed. My thought would have been something akin to an accordion, actually :D Once or twice removed? three times???.... Orrrrr not. Maybe I just need to be quiet :)

*rubs chin thoughtfully* Hmm .... Does that smell come anywhere close in regards to rotten eggs??? /:) Now THOSE are foul!!!! (No pun intended :D) Those and, actually, just rotten potatoes are pretty ... Um, potent, shall we say? ;) SICK. Lol. Just finished digging potatoes out of our own garden, and thank heavens none were rotten! :P *giggle*

... So much for being quiet. Wow. ;)

  4. I just looked up haruspicate- to tell someone's fortune. makes sense, doesn't it? hmmm... for some reason my computer tells me that I spelled that wrong...
I'm watching Toy Story 1 with your sibs and mine, and the music is really terpsichorean! :)

  5. Seriously, sometimes the words you give us look like you took them from the security words on the comments...

  6. lol I miss Toy Story!!! ... I haven't seen it for sooooo long! ... oh, sorry, I mean, I miss my siblings, haven't seen them for so long, yadda yadda. ;) I hope they are doing credit to all those long hours of painstaking attention I spent on them and their upbringing. Tell them they had better behave, or ... or ... or else! Or else I'll come home! or even worse, I'll stay away, and they'll have to do all my chores for the rest of their lives! Muwahahahahaha ... !

  7. But that's two words down, one to go; the one we can't even pronounce, of course. I should email a prof or something. But I agree, they look like I took a bunch of letter magnets off the fridge, rearranged them, and stuck them back up, to lean back with pride and survey the verbal mess I had just made. Like some other individuals I know ...

  8. Toy Storys 1, 2, and 3!!! Whee!!! :)) Good movies!

Just looked up the strange unpronounceable word. From Greek mythology. Chthonic-Of or relating to the underworld. ... That's kind of disturbing, actually.

Oh, and it's pronounced "thon-ik"! Never would have guessed ;) lol.
